本書源自國立自然科學博物館「考古番仔園文化－尋找中部平埔族的祖先」特展，整合本館多年來的考古調查、發掘、研究與典藏成果，聚焦距今約1,600年至400年前的番仔園文化。
透過遺址與石器、陶器、鐵器、骨器及動物遺骸等出土資料，從生活環境、聚落、飲食、服飾、居住與墓葬等面向，呈現中部史前人群的生活與文化，並探討其與中部平埔族群的歷史及文化關聯。
本書亦將特展研究成果轉化為出版與教育資源，以保存珍貴文化資產並推廣臺灣中部考古與平埔族群歷史。
This book originates from the special exhibition Archaeological Fanziyuan Culture: In Search of the Ancestors of the Central Taiwan Plains Indigenous Peoples at the National Museum of Natural Science. It integrates the Museum's years of achievements in archaeological surveys, excavations, research, and collections, focusing on the Fanziyuan Culture that dates back approximately 1,600 to 400 years ago.
Through archaeological sites and excavated materials such as stone tools, pottery, ironware, bone implements, and animal remains, the book presents the daily life and culture of prehistoric populations in central Taiwan from multiple perspectives, including their living environments, settlements, diets, clothing, dwellings, and burial practices. It also explores their historical and cultural connections with the Plains Indigenous peoples of central Taiwan.
Furthermore, this publication transforms the exhibition's research findings into educational resources, aiming to preserve precious cultural heritage and promote the understanding of central Taiwan's archaeology and the history of the Plains Indigenous peoples. |

本書介紹鹿港攝影家許蒼澤（1930–2006）一生以相機記錄家鄉鹿港的珍貴影像。他以平實細膩的鏡頭，捕捉鹿港的街巷、人物、民居、傳統節慶與生活習俗，留下約25萬張影像，見證鹿港半世紀的社會與文化變遷。
2007年，許氏家族將大量攝影作品及手稿捐贈予國立自然科學博物館，成為重要的國家典藏。科博館持續進行影像整理、數位典藏與研究詮釋，讓這批珍貴的地方文化記憶得以保存與再現。
為紀念許蒼澤逝世20週年，2026年推出「一天、一年、一輩子：許蒼澤的鹿城拾影」特展，從一天的日常、一年的節慶，到一輩子的人生軌跡，重新呈現許蒼澤鏡頭下的鹿港。
這些影像不僅是個人的生命記錄，也是鹿港地方歷史與文化的重要見證。透過影像的整理、研究與展示，珍貴的地方記憶得以延續，也讓今日觀眾重新認識鹿港在臺灣社會變遷中的文化意義。
This publication introduces the remarkable photographic works of Lukang photographer Hsu Tsang-tse (1930–2006), who devoted his life to documenting his hometown through his camera. With a simple yet sensitive approach, he captured Lukang’s streets, people, traditional houses, festivals, and everyday customs, leaving approximately 250,000 images that bear witness to half a century of social and cultural change in Lukang.
In 2007, the Hsu family donated a large collection of photographs and manuscripts to the National Museum of Natural Science, where they became an important part of the national collection. The Museum has continued to organize, digitize, research, and interpret these materials, preserving and bringing to life this valuable record of local cultural heritage.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hsu Tsang-tse’s passing, the special exhibition A Day, a Year, and a Lifetime: Hsu Tsang-tse’s Photographs of Lukang was presented in 2026. From everyday life through the course of a day, to festivals hroughout a year, and the journey of a lifetime, the exhibition offers a renewed view of Lukang through Hsu’s lens.
These images are not only a record of one man’s life, but also an important testimony to the history and culture of Lukang. Through their preservation, research, and exhibition, precious local memories can be carried forward, allowing contemporary audiences to rediscover the cultural significance of Lukang amid Taiwan’s social transformation. |

作者從文化層序與遺址分布闡述生態環境，透過舊石器時代遺跡發掘、建構台灣中部考古史前時代人群、文化特色與發展過程，從了解如何使用考古工具開始，帶領讀者走入台灣中部史前人類的生活環境，看看他們吃些什麼、周遭有哪些動植物、使用何種工具以及如何裝扮自己。此外，黃炫星先生捐贈本館水蛙窟遺址標本，因數量龐大該書僅能精選部分代表性的標本呈現。
This book is the anthropological group of our museum, which has collected unearthed specimens and relics from archaeological excavations in central Taiwan over the years, and has conducted analysis and research. It also provides important data for the permanent exhibition of "Story Telling by the Ancient People." In this exhibition , a special archaeological relic restoration room is also built, hoping to provide the public with understanding of archaeological research and sustainable development of the environment through reading this book and visiting the exhibition.
The author elaborates on the ecological environment through cultural stratigraphy and site distribution, excavates Paleolithic sites, and constructs the characteristics and development process of the population and culture of prehistoric Taiwan in the central region. This journey starts from understanding how to use archaeological tools, leading readers into the living environment of prehistoric humans in central Taiwan. Readers will explore what they ate, the surrounding flora and fauna, the tools they used, and how they adorned themselves. In addition, due to the large number of specimens donated by Mr. Huang Xuanxing from the Shuiwaku site, this book can only select some representative specimens for presentation. |

本書為國立自然科學博物館人類學組於2005~2015年期間在臺中市沙鹿區南勢坑遺址進行5次的發掘之出土遺物整理分析的成果報告。
南勢坑遺址是一個史前時代的小型聚落，年代距今大約1100〜400年，位置在大肚台地西側的緩坡上，面對清水海岸隆起平原，其居民是平埔族拍布拉族的祖先，以臺灣考古學的文化分類而言，屬於蕃仔園文化鹿寮類型。
南勢坑遺址的考古發掘，發現有數量既多分佈又密集的灰坑，以及大量的陶容器破片、獸骨、貝殼、木炭、玻璃珠、瑪瑙珠、鐵器、陶紡輪等遺物。劉克竑先生的工作團隊透過1年的計畫案重新整理、分析並出版這批珍貴文化資產，以堤供學者研究材料，與社會大眾了解平埔族過往的歷史。
This book presents the excavation, organization, and analysis results of the unearthed artifacts from five excavations conducted by the Anthropology Department of National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung City Shalu District at the Nanshikeng Archaeological Site between 2005 and 2015.
The Nanshikeng site is a prehistoric small settlement dating back approximately 1100 to 400 years ago. It is located on a gentle slope on the west side of a terrace in Dadu District, facing the elevated plain of Qingshui District's coast. The anhabitants are ancestors of the Pingpu people and, in terms of Taiwan's archaeological cultural classification, belong to the Fanziyuan Culture, Luliao Type.
The Nanshikeng site's archaeological excavation uncovered numerous ash pits, as well as a large quantity of pottery fragments, animal bones, shells, charcoal, glass beads, agate beads, iron artifacts, and pottery spinning wheels. Mr. Liu Kehong's team undertook a one-year project to reorganize, analyze, and publish this book, aiming to provide scholars and the general public with insights into the history of the Pingpu people. |

This book is the third lecture collection of "Weekend Let's go! Sharing the Masters’ Visions," a lecture series conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Dr. Shuenn-Der Yu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica, were invited to planned and edited this collection. The collection includes a series of eight lectures related to anthropology, covering not only ethnicity, culture and religion, but even human nature, night markets and witchcraft. The contents are rich and diverse, that not only transmit knowledge to the audience, but also stimulate and remodel the audience’s concepts.

Ces ecclésiastiques sont principalement issus des Missions étrangères de Paris (MEP), dont l’objectif est l’évangélisation à l’étranger. La société a aussi mis accent sur la formation des talents locaux et la préservation de la culture. Cet ouvrage inclut 4 articles qui explorent, sous différents points de vue, l’impact et la contribution de la mission. Avec les portraits des 17 pères que l’on a dressés selon leurs images laissées, ce livre raconte aussi cette histoire d’évangélisation durant plus de soixante ans. |

The Dunhuang Cave Complex, built from the 4th to 14th centuries, is a thousand-year construction accumulations. It's a treasure in the desert where ancient eastern and western cultures came together, collided and mixed. It provides valuable information on the evolution of Buddhism, as well as in the fields of arts, history, archaeology, folk customs, and science.In 1900, Library Cave was discovered, and soon western explorers arrived in Dunhuang, which led to the scattering of its artifacts among various countries, such as England, France, America, Japan and Russia etc.. The cowardly Qing Dynasty had no way to protect these cultural heritages.The Dunhuang Caves, the world's most expansive Buddhist Cave Complex, were dug and carved out over a thousand years. Scenes of these magnificent works are shown in the National Museum of Nature Science due to the efforts contributed by both the people of Mainland China and Taiwan. This is the only exhibition place in Taiwan. This special exhibition runs for 5 months and 6 days. It highlights various Caves and exquisite art works of different eras to create and overview of the treasures of the Dunhuang Cave Complex. Visitors are encouraged to appreciate the beauty of the arts of Dunhuang through this exhibition. |

2016年是科博館成立30週年。這30年來科博館與國人一同成長，逐漸成為世界上最受歡迎的博物館之一。值此30週年慶，科博館結合湖北省博物館、國立故宮博物院、國立歷史博物館、中央研究院歷史語言研究所文物陳列館等海峽兩岸大博物館，聯合推出「鼎立三十-看先民鑄鼎鎔金的科學智慧特展」。上古先民累積了材料科學上的智慧，發展合金鑄造，將文明從石器時代帶入青銅時代。中國在約4000年前掌握了開採銅礦、冶煉銅錫鉛合金，以及鑄造銅器的技術，創造了許多禮器、兵器，與日用器皿。這些器物或自地下出土，或傳世至今，其成品的精緻及技術的先進，即使是今日的我們仍然讚嘆不已。
