Main Duties
KUN-HSUAN LEE (KWEN SHEN LEE) Assistant Curator Collection Manager I entered the Collection and Research Division of the National Museum of Natural Science in March 1996, as Assistant Curator and Collection Manager of Invertebrates. My research focuses on coelenterates (mainly sea anemones), annelids (mainly polychaetes), echinoderms (mainly sea urchins) and Mollusca (mainly cephalopods). My work involves planning for the field collection of specimens, surveying invertebrate fauna, and conducting taxonomic research. In addition, during collection expeditions, I study and photograph the relations and interactions between organisms and their environment. It is my hope that my work will create a more complete database, to increase the depth and value of endemic invertebrate related research. In addition, I hope to compile a series of easy-to-understand study and identification guides to endemic marine invertebrates, to be used in biology classes.

Searching for new methods of relaxing and fixing invertebrates is also one of my duties. In addition, I am in contact with many researchers as well as graduate students to contriute to this museum’s collection and to the development of the scientific literature, research dissertation work and taxonomy- related studies.

Duties and Current Research Projects:
1. Invertebrate specimen collection and identification.
2. Management of invertebrate specimen storage.
3. Taxonomic research on coelenterates (mainly sea anemones), annelids (mainly polychaetes), echinoderms (mainly sea urchins) and Mollusca (mainly cephalopods). 4. Photographic recording of relationships and interactions between marine invertebrates and their environment.
