摘要Cirsium japonicum DC. var. australe Kitam. has long been used as an herbal remedy, often utilizing the whole plant or roots. However, the bioactivities of different plant parts remain poorly explored. This study evaluated the antioxidative capacity of methanol extracts from the flowers, leaves, stems, and roots, and identified their potential active components against juglone-induced oxidative stress in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Leaves had the highest dry weight (12.3 g per plant), followed by stems (8.0 g). Methanol extract yields from flowers, leaves, and roots were similar (13.0–13.8%), while stems had the lowest yield (8.6%). Analysis of silymarin components showed that silychristin and taxifolin were present in all parts, whereas silydianin occurred only in leaves, stems, and roots. At 10 mg/L, extracts from flowers, leaves, and stems significantly alleviated juglone-induced oxidative stress in C. elegans, likely due to the presence of silychristin and taxifolin. Overall, C. japonicum DC. var. australe Kitam. contains substantial amounts of silymarin and demonstrates in vivo antioxidative activity, indicating its potential as a health supplement or as a source of silymarin.
