| 摘要 | The genus Zingiber comprises about 180 species distributed mainly in tropical regions. Several species are cultivated worldwide for medicinal and culinary uses, including true ginger (Z. officinale), bitter ginger (Z. zerumbet), and Z. purpureum. In Taiwan, two endemic species and one incompletely known taxon were recorded in the latest edition of the Flora of Taiwan, and several taxonomic issues remain unresolved. Here, we revise Taiwanese Zingiber based on morphological, palynological, anatomical, molecular, and distributional evidence. Our results show that floral characters, especially the labellum, fertile bracts, and corolla tube, have strong taxonomic value for distinguishing Taiwanese taxa. Accordingly, five species are recognized: Z. chengii Y.H. Tseng, C.M. Wang & Y.C. Lin, Z. mioga Thunb., Z. oligophyllum K. Schum., Z. pleiostachyum K. Schum., and Z. shuanglongense C.L. Yeh & S.W. Chung. Zingiber mioga is likely a newly naturalized species in Taiwan. Zingiber kawagoii Hayata and Z. koshunense C.T. Moo are treated as synonyms of Z. pleiostachyum. |
