| 摘要 | Radiolarian faunas were analyzed for the surface sediments from the basin to the southwest of Taiwan. In this study, the occurrence of radiolarian faunas shows that 1) Radiolaria occurs from shallow coastal environment to the deep area; 2) the abundance and diversity of Radiolaria in the sediments are mainly controlled by the depth; the diversity of radiolarian assemblage increases with increasing depth. Radiolarian assemblages in the sediments may indicate the variation of water masses of past. A preliminary test shows that during the deposition of these surface sediments, the water column of deep area consisted of at least three water masses; the boundaries of upper three water masses were possibly around the depths at 130 and 300 meters, respectively. |
