| 摘要 | 本文探討傳教士將所見所聞逐日記錄，及這些記載彰顯的意義，特別是檔案、文字稿、影像的產出時間，約在1949年的中國巨變前後，從中國來到臺灣的傳教士，選擇臺灣的東海岸駐紮後的傳教實踐。檢視這些資料，是由巴黎外方傳教會的會士們先後的記載，從會士的角度來看這段時期的東海岸改宗，以及社會變遷的歷程。過去這些材料是教會在探討傳教策略時重要的依據，也是修會在對外宣傳、進行募款或介紹時的素材；重新檢視這些檔案、影像等，可分析出當中呈現臺灣本地的元素與外來文化混融的現象，以及傳教士從外來者轉變為本地人的過程。日記反映記主的內心世界，也最貼近當時的記憶，這些傳教日記圍繞著會士以及相關的行動者，透過這些日常的生活實踐，構築出臺灣東海岸的地方傳教史。
This paper explores how missionaries documented their daily observations and experiences, as well as the significance of these archives. These materials, including manuscripts and images, were produced after major political shifts in China in 1949, when missionaries relocated to Taiwan and established their missions on Taiwan’s East Coast. By examining these records, which were compiled by members of the Missions Étrangères de Paris (MEP), the aim of this paper is to investigate the process of religious conversion and social changes on the East Coast of Taiwan during this period from the perspectives of these missionaries. Historically, these materials served as an important basis for the Catholic Church when discussing missionary strategies. They were also used for publicity, fundraising, and introducing their work. These manuscripts and images reveal the blending of local Taiwanese elements and foreign cultures, and trace the transformation process of missionaries from outsiders to integrated members of their local communities. These diaries reflect the missionaries inner thoughts, and can be considered very close to records of their memories. The content centers on the missionaries themselves and related actors. Finally, these missionary diaries can be used to construct a local history of missionary work on Taiwan’s East Coast. |
