 | 摘要 | Comprehensive analysis suggests that around 3000 years ago, the environment around the Guanyin Paishatun site was mainly an evergreen broadleaf forest with understory grasses, adjacent to
wetlands. Humans settled in the area and engaged in rice cultivation. The site's cultural florescence was
around 3100–2800 years ago, when in addition to rice farming, they also utilized resources like Arundo
and bamboo. Later, possibly due to climatic changes, human activities decreased, and the environment
gradually reverted to a forested landscape. Rice phytoliths found at the site likely belong to the tropical
japonica subspecies (Oryza sativa ssp. javanica), indicating that ancient rice spread through Taiwan via
 maritime routes, warranting further research.
This study combined qualitative and quantitative phytolith analyses to reconstruct the 3000-year-old
plant environment evolution at the Guanyin Paishatun site and explored the utilization of plant resources
by prehistoric people. This provides important clues for understanding the development of prehistoric
cultures in Taiwan and demonstrates the significant value of archaeobotanical research in analyzing the
relationship between ancient ecological environments and human activities.
