摘要This study is set against the backdrop of the 2023 exhibition "Living With Fire" at Taiwan's National Museum of Natural Science. It delves into the journey of human use of fire and intertwines this narrative with Taiwanese indigenous myths, shedding light on the distinctive evolution of prehistoric fire usage in Taiwan. To depict the relationship between humans and fire in a more enriching and engaging way, we introduced a multimedia interactive program within the exhibition, titled "The Quest for Fire: A Tale of Courage and Heritage." During its development, we innovatively merged hand-drawn illustrations with AI technology to craft an animated game, vividly narrating the fire myths of Taiwanese indigenous peoples.
The research highlights that the application of artificial intelligence (AI) goes beyond simply reducing labor and costs. More importantly, it offers the capability to envision a richer and more diverse visual world. Using AI drawing techniques, combined with manual refinement, a unique and vibrant visual realm was established. The collaborative approach between human and machine enabled both to capitalize on their strengths, enriching the narrative with elements of vitality, science, and emotion. This study also underscores the potential of AI technology in diverse domains, demonstrating its efficacy in enhancing knowledge-intensive tasks. Viewing AI as our modern-day "fire," the avenues for future exploration are limitless.
Lastly, this research accentuates the museum's interdisciplinary approach, melding elements of humanities, science, and art. Through interactive storytelling animations, the study illuminates the indigenous reverence for fire, their awe and gratitude towards nature, and shines a light on the courage, determination, and symbiotic relationships between humans and animals. This research not only underscores the pioneering use of AI technology in museum exhibitions but also showcases the harmonious blend of technology with art and humanities.
