Main Duties
After I finished my mandatory military service in 1991, I applied the job according to my specialty and interests and therefore entered the Shin-yi Rock Co. in Taoyuan. I served as a specialist in the General Manager’s office and my duties included providing technical advice in work regarding the importing, slicing, grinding and polishing of rocks. Therefore, I have learnt the methods for processing and identifying rocks from all over the world (including those from Taiwan ).

After working in the company for almost one year, I feel that there are still more knowledge for me to explore in this field. Thus, I chose to apply for a job in the National Museum of Natural Science as my second occupation in life.

The first year in the museum I was only a term-contracted technician responsible for rock slicing, grinding and maintain polishing machine. I became a curatorial assistant in July 1993 and in charge of managing the drilling core collection and the specimen photos of Geology Department. In this position, I participate in designing the drilling core collection storage and setting up the photo studio. Moreover, my work involve occasional photo taking and supporting for special exhibition, such as “Cambrian Explosion Special Exhibit” and the ”Year of the Ox Special Exhibit”, etc.
